NICOLE ROSE HOBBS

About Me
The contrasts and depth of color in nature ignite a profound sense of excitement within me, stirring emotions that inspire my creative process. Through my art, I aim to breathe life into my subjects, fostering a connection to the natural world that surrounds us. Each moment holds a unique story, and my work seeks to convey these narratives in a way that resonates deeply.
Growing up in northern British Columbia, I developed a deep appreciation for nature during my childhood spent outdoors. At the age of 14, I began painting with acrylics, which led to an opportunity to paint plein air in Mexico during a school trip. The vibrant colors and rich culture of Mexico left a lasting impression, inspiring me to return after high school to study under my mentor. Over the course of five years, I refined a style characterized by expressive, dynamic brushwork that is both free and intentional, allowing me to convey my emotions through my art.
For the past 14 years, I have lived in the Kootenays of British Columbia, where the breathtaking landscapes and my growing connection to the environment continue to fuel my creativity. My time is often spent exploring nature, hiking, and adventuring with my husband and my two wonderful children, all of which deeply influence my artistic expression. Later I have had the privilege of traveling abroad, drawing inspiration from the beauty of the world beyond the Kootenays. I currently reside in Utah, where the stunning surroundings continue to inspire my work and deepen my connection to the natural world.
